Gas Servicing (ex-HBC) Contract Extension

PROPOSED RECOMMENDATION

To vary the Gas Servicing contract awarded by Harrogate Borough Council, in order to extend it for a period of five months, from 3 January 2024 to 28 May 2024.

BACKGROUND TO SUPPORT THE RECOMMENDATION

The recommendation to vary the contract in order to extend it is in response to the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and a move to amalgamate contracts where possible.  The aim of the extension is to align the end date of the current contract with the end date of the current contract awarded by Selby District Council in order for a single contract to be procured, to take effect from 29 May 2024. 

The procurement process is underway.

LEGAL AND GOVERNANCE COMPLIANCE

The contract variation will be undertaken by the Council’s Procurement and Contract Management Service and Legal Services, with a Gateway report being considered in accordance with the Council’s Procurement and Contract Procedure Rules.

This is a Key Decision.  It was entered on the forward plan on 1 November 2023.

RECOMMENDATION

To vary the existing contract in order to extend it for a period of five months from 3 January 2024 to 28 May 2024.  The variation will allow the Authority to proceed with transformational work to amalgamate contracts, previously held separately by the legacy authorities.
